Car crashes into home, hitting baby in play-pen

A car crashed into the living room of a home in Bladderwijk in Nieuw-Dordtrecht on Sunday evening, lightly hitting a playpen in which a baby was lying, the Drenthe police said on Twitter. The child's father was also in the living room at the time. Both were taken to hospital for examination.

The car finally came to a halt in the driveway. The home is badly damaged, according to RTL Nieuws. The mother was also at home, but not in the living room at the time of the accident. She remained unharmed.

The police are investigating how the accident happened. The driver of the car was checked over by paramedics. The driver was not under the influence of alcohol, the police said.
