Hand grenades found in The Hague, Zandvoort
Hand grenades were found in The Hague and Zandvoort on Monday. The explosive in The Hague was discovered early in the morning, the one in Zandvoort in the afternoon.
The grenade in Zandvoort was found near a school on Doctor C.A. Gerkestraat, according to NH Nieuws. The police told children in the schoolyard to go inside while explosive experts investigated. The explosive was safely removed.
Last month shots were fired at a home on the same street. A 14-year-old boy, sleeping in his bed at the time, sustained minor injuries to his hand.
At around 3:00 a.m. a hand grenade and bullet casings were found at a scooter on Eerste Lulofsdwarsstraat in the Laak district of The Hague, Omroep West reports. The Ministry of Defense's explosive disposal team removed the grenade and safely detonated elsewhere.
The police don't know if anyone had been shot. Investigation is under way and the police call on witnesses to come forward.
