Two killed in small plane crash near Gouda
Two people were killed when a small sports plane crashed in a polder in Krimpenerwaard on Tuesday morning. The accident happened around 11:30 a.m. southwest of the town Stolwijk, near Gouda, NOS reports.
The plane involved is a Cessna with registration code PH-SBM, according to the broadcaster. It took off from Rotterdam The Hague Airport around 15 minutes before the crash. The two victims were the only people in the plane.
Eyewitnesses told NOS that the plane got into trouble when making a loop.
Investigators from the Dutch Safety Board are on their way to the scene of the accident.
The registration code reported by NOS matches the the tail number of a Cessna which collided with an aircraft over Wassenaar in 2012. In that accident no one was injured, though the Cessna had to make an emergency landing on a beach, NU.nl reported at the time.
