Men force car off road, rob driver, set car on fire
A 38-year-old man from Steenwijk was driving in his home time during the early hours of Sunday morning when he was forced off the road and robbed. The robbers then set his car on fire.
According to the police, this robbery, arson and attempted manslaughter happened around 3:00 a.m. The victim was driving on Meppelerweg towards the roundabout just before the A32 when he noticed a black car parked at the carpool area. The black car pulled onto the road ahead of him, blocking his way.
Two masked men, completely dressed in black, got out of the black car. They forced the victim to drive to nearby Spoorbaanweg, where they robbed him of all the money he had on him. The perpetrators then set his car on fire, before driving off.
The police are looking for witnesses, or anyone who noticed a black car with two or more men inside around Steenwijk on Saturday night and early on Sunday morning.
