Blokker family donates art collection to Singer Laren museum

Els and Jan Blokker, founder of the Blokker concern, are donating their collection of paintings by Dutch avant-gardists from around 1900 to the Singer Laren museum, the museum announced in a video. The so-called Nardinc Collection consists of over a hundred paintings, NOS reports.

The collection is named after the Blokkers' home in Gooi, Huize Nardinclant. It includes works by Jan Sluijters, Jan and Charely Toorop, Kees van Dongen, Dik Ket, Carel Willink, and Leo Gestel, among others. Els Blokker is also financing the construction of a new wing for the museum. The Nardinc wing is planned to open late in 2020.

The donated collection "offers a museum overview of Dutch modernism in the first half of the 20th century and fits seamlessly with the original Singer collection, in which the emphasis is on Dutch impressionism", the museum said in a statement.
