Burst water pipe partly closes Utrecht CS

Part of platform 18/19 at Utrecht Central Station was closed on Wednesday morning because of a burst water pipe. Water came flooding through the roof, and because of the freezing cold temperatures, created something of an ice rink right in front of the stairs leading to the platform, NOS reports.

The burst pipe runs through the upper station hall and supplies the restaurants, shops and toilets with water. Due to the burst, which happened around 5:00 a.m., no coffee or tea was available at the station on Wednesday morning. The problem was fixed around noon.

NS is investigating what caused the pipe to burst.
