Watch Winter Olympics opening ceremony live from 11:50 a.m.
The Winter Olympics kick off in Peyonchang, South Korea on Friday. People in the Netherlands can watch the opening ceremony live from 11:50 a.m. on NPO 1.
The Netherlands has 33 athletes participating in the Winter Olympics this year. Though only 11 of them will take part in the opening ceremony. The other 22 couldn't fit the opening ceremony into their training schedule - many of the Dutch athletes will come into action on Saturday and Sunday, according to RTL Nieuws.
Jan Smeekens will carry the Dutch flag during the opening ceremony. The other 10 athletes at the ceremony are skaters Anice Das, Patrick Roest, Kjeld Nuis, Esmee Visser, Ronald Mulder, Kai Verbij, Annouk van der Weijden, and Irene Schouten, skeleton racer Kimberly Bos, and Snowboarder Cheryl Maas.
TeamNL aims to win 15 medals during the games, chef de mission Jeroen Bijl said on Thursday. At the previous Winter Olympics, in Sochi in 2014, the Dutch athletes won 24 medals.
