Den Haag building named best office building in the world

Rijnstraat 8 in Den Haag was voted the best office building in the world in ArchDaily's Building of the year Awards for 2018, the architectural blog announced on Thursday.

The building was designed by architect firm OMA, led by architect Ellen van Loon. Rijnstraat 8 houses the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, the central agency for the reception of asylum seekers COA, and the Immigration and Naturalization center.

The ArchDaily Building of the year Awards select winners in 25 categories. Rijnstraat 8, located next to Den Haag Centraal, won in the office building categories. Other winners include Apple Store Michigan Avenue in Chicago in the commercial architecture category, the Waterside Buddhist Shrine in China in the religious architecture category, and the Herdade Of Freixo Winery in Portugal under industrial architecture.
