Infrastructure sec. calls fireworks pelted at trains "completely idiotic"

"Completely idiotic action seems to be a perfectly correct description", State Secretary Stientje van Veldhoven of Infrastructure responded to incidents of fireworks being pelted at moving trains in Amsterdam and Den Bosch on Sunday. "Let people who work for all of us do it safely!" she wrote on Twitter.

Fireworks were thrown at trains in Amsterdam and Den Bosch. The driver of an Amsterdam train that was hit got such a fright that he had to take a moment to calm down, ProRail said. He could resume his duties afterwards, NS said, according to RTL Nieuws. Not much is known about the incident in Den Bosch, the broadcaster writes.

ProRail also called these incidents "completely idiotic". The rail manager will file a police declaration. "We are worried. There is a risk that the driver will miss a signal from the shock", the company said. ProRail has cameras along the tracks and hopes that there will be footage of the perpetrators.
