Distraught mother renews call to bring kidnapped Amsterdam toddler home
Nadia Rashid, the mother of now 3-year-old Insiya Hemani who was kidnapped from Amsterdam in September last year, is still fighting to get her daughter back from India, where she is believed to be with her father.
In an effort to keep her and her daughter's plight under public attention, Nadia shared a few of her "most precious memories" of Insiya on Facebook.
"You around the Christmas tree, mesmerized by the tree lighting and you early in the morning happily singing your own version of Christmas Carols. I love you Insiya. You are forever there in my heart, and soon also in my arms." Nadia wrote on Facebook.
She posted photos of Insiya with the Christmas tree, along with a letter she wrote to her daughter. "My sweet girl... I miss you. This is my second Christmas without you. My biggest wish for 2018 is to hold you in my arms again", Nadia wrote.
Insiya was violently kidnapped from her grandmother's apartment in Amsterdam on September 29th, 2016. The authorities believe the little girl's father, Shehzad Hemani, is behind the kidnapping and is now holding Insiya in India. The Dutch authorities asked for his extradition, but India refused. The Public Prosecutor sees very little chance of him being extradited in the foreseeable future, she said in court earlier this month.
