A group of hikers and a dog were attacked by a swarm of hornets in a park on Kosmoslaan in Eindhoven on Monday. Some people got over 20 stings. Four were hospitalized and monitored for allergic reactions, AD reports.
Three victims were treated by paramedics on site before going to the hospital for observation. The fourth was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance. All four are doing well under the circumstances, according to the newspaper.
A dog also fell victim to the wasps. He has a swollen eye to show for the attack, but is also doing well, according to Eindhovens Dagblad. The attack happened around 8:00 p.m.
One of the victims was missing for a time, but he later showed up at a hospital. According to a spokesperson for the municipality of Eindhoven, the man simply went to the hospital himself for treatment.
Several ambulances and the fire department were at the scene of the hornet attack and the area was closed off to the public. The emergency services know where the nest is located. According to Omroep Brabant, the hornets will be removed from the park.
