Hague murder victim identified as father of 4; community shocked
A man found murdered in a parking garage in the Hague neighborhood of Schilderswijk on Sunday afternoon, was identified as 57-year-old father of four Alwin Sewnundun, according to the Telegraaf. Shocked local residents told the newspaper that he was beaten with tools.
Alwin and his wife returned home after buying groceries around 2:30 p.m., as was usual for them, according to the newspaper. After taking the bags inside, Alwin went to park the car in the car garage. His wife and the son who still lives at home were just wondering what was taking him so long when a neighbor sounded the alarm.
The neighbor found Alwin's body at the bottom of the garage's stairs, a puddle of blood around his head. A number of tools were strewn on the floor of the garage, some with blood on them, the residents said to the newspaper.
"We are very socked", a good friend and former Schilderswijk resident said to the Telegraaf. "As far as I know Alwin had no enemies. He's a quiet and sweet man. He had trouble with his heart and did not work anymore. We went for a walk together each day. I can't believe what happened to him."
The police are investigating the circumstances around the murder.
