Photos surface of drugs, jihad flags in Nijmegen juvenile detention center

Photos are circulating on the internet of young people posing with drugs and jihad flags at the Nijmegen juvenile detention center De Hunnerberg. The Ministry of Security and Justice confirmed that the photos were taken in the institution, but added that they were taken in 2014, before the asylum crisis, Omroep Gelderland reports.

The photos, in the possession of the broadcaster, show a number of jihad flags known to be used by terrorist organizations like Al Qaeda and Islamic State.

A spokesperson for the institution told Omroep Gelderland that the possession of "drugs, telephones and objects of discriminatory, offensive or militant nature" are not allowed at De Hunnerberg.

According to the broadcaster, the young people in the photos were reprimanded for the photographs last week. The directors of De Hunnerberg would not confirm this to AD.
