17th century Govert Flinck painting sells for stunning $10.3 million
Auction house Christie's sold a painting titled An old man at a casement by Dutch painter Govert Flinck for 10.4 million dollars (around 9.5 million euros) in New York on Thursday. The value of the Rembrandt student's painting was estimated between 2 million and 3 million euros, the auction house announced.
An old man at a casement was painted in 1645. The previous time the painting was auctioned was in 2011. Then it sold for 2.7 million euros.
The painting was sold in an Old Masters auction in the Rockefeller Center in New York. In total the auction raised over 32 million dollars.
