Top cocaine trafficker saws off ankle monitor, escapes custody
The police and judiciary are looking for cocaine trafficker Cetin G., the Public Prosecutor confirmed to NOS. The Prosecutor believes C. cut through his ankle monitor and went into hiding.
G. is considered as one of the main players in cocaine smuggling in the Netherlands. He was arrested in Rotterdam in 2014 and sentenced to 12 years in prison in December last year. He was allowed to await his sentencing at home, wearing an ankle monitor. But when the court ruled, he was nowhere to be found. "Since then there's been no trace of him. He is also being sought internationally", a spokesperson for the Public Prosecutor said to NOS.
G. was the leader of a gang that smuggled a total of 16 thousand kilograms of cocaine from South America to Europe. Before his arrest he was on Interpol's most wanted list.
