Dunkin' Donuts eyes 160 Netherlands store locations
Dunkin Donuts plans to eventually open 160 stores in the Netherlands, the first of which opened in Amsterdam on Nieuwendijk on Thursday. Dozens of people lined up early on Thursday morning to be the first through the door of the new branch, Het Parool reports.
Some even spent the night in line in front of the donut shop - the first 100 customers got free donuts for a year. Adnan (15) and David (16) were in line since 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. They believe it was worth it. Andan describes Dunkin Donuts as "caviar among donuts."
The Amsterdam branch, located at 147 Nieuwendijk, is the first Dunkin Donuts branch to open in the Netherlands since the company left in 2000. The company hopes to eventually open 160 stores in the Netherlands, 25 of which in the next 5 years. If all goes to plan, there will be four Dunkin Donuts stores in Amsterdam.
