Boy sends love letter to Dutch princess gets reply from King, Queen

Nine year old Rene from Tilburg set his sights high for Valentine's Day. He decided to write a love letter for Princess Ariane, the youngest daughter of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima. And he was rewarded with a return letter from the King and Queen themselves, Omroep Brabant reports.

Rene got the idea after Valentine's Day was discussed in the classroom at Helen Parkhurst School in Tilburg. He asked his teacher for help, but initially did not want to tell her who the love letter was intended for. After some prodding, he admitted it was for the princess.

The boy dictated the letter to the teacher, who wrote it down for him. He then copied it in his own handwriting. "I think that you are pretty. You are the most beautiful girl in the world", the boy wrote to the princess.

He got a letter back from King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima, who thanked him for the lovely letter for their daughter.

Princess Ariane will be visiting Tilburg next month with her family for King's Day. Rene hopes that he will catch a glimpse of her. He's not hoping for a Royal kiss however. "Not with all the people watching!" he said to the broadcaster.
