Woman killed in road rage on Amsterdam ring; One badly hurt

Two people were run over by a car on the A10 towards Schiphol on Sunday night around midnight. A woman was killed and a man was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, AD reports.

According to the newspaper, the woman and man were quarreling and got out of their car on the emergency lane between Amsterdam Oud-Zuid and De Nieuwe Meer. They ran over the highway and were hit by an oncoming car. What they were fighting about is unclear. It is believed that the two were husband and wife, though this has not yet been confirmed.

The highway was closed in the direction of Den Haag for several hours as the police investigated. The police are calling on witnesses to come forward in the hopes of getting more clarity on exactly what happened.
