Suspected home invasion leaves elderly woman dead

The police are investigating the death of an elderly woman in Maastricht. She was found dead in her home on Sluizerbank on Thursday morning. As yet unconfirmed reports say the home was broken into, according to 1Limburg.

A neighbor called the police after she hadn't seen her neighbor for several days. Officers went to check it out and found the woman dead in her home.

In a statement the police only say that the woman died under "suspicious circumstances". The home was closed off and a forensic team performed a technical investigation.
