Fireworks hotline gets over 7,000 complaints in two days

Fireworks hotline vuurwerkoverlast.nl received over 7 thousand fireworks complaints since it opened on Saturday. This is the 5th year the hotline is active over the Christmas and New Year's holiday season.

Most of the complaints involved problems caused by firework bombs, the hotline said on Monday, according to the Telegraaf. Complaints about "irritating supermarket fireworks" came in second place.

The hotline is an initiative of 30 local GroenLinks factions, including the factions in Rotterdam, The Hague and Groningen. The intention behind the hotline is to get a better view of the problems caused by fireworks.

Last year the hotline received about 89 thousand complaints over the holiday season.
