Twitter closes Amsterdam office

Twitter is closing its office in Amsterdam's Zuidas. As of January 1st, an external company is taking over Twitter's advertising sales in the Netherlands.

Twitter has been struggling with disappointing growth in the number of users and is still operating at a loss. While the latest quarterly figures were reasonably good - revenue increased by 8 percent to 616 dollar - the social media company still suffered a 103 million dollar loss.

Twitter therefore immediately announces a round of sizeable cutbacks. The closure of the Amsterdam office is part of this.
