Government calls on victims to report discrimination

The Dutch government is calling on all victims of discrimination to report it to the police, even if the Public Prosecutor only gets to about a quarter of the reports as RTL Nieuws reports "But that 25 percent is already worth the effort", Minister Lodewijk Asscher of Social Affairs said to broadcaster NOS. Minister Ard van der Steur of Security and Justice also believes that victims should not be discouraged, he said to NOS. He points out that several reports against one person ca show the seriousness of the offense. "And serious, severe cases are always given priority." Van der Steur is meeting with the Public Prosecutor next week to look for a way for more of the cases to be handled.
