Canadian sculptor searching for Van Gogh lookalike
Canadian artist and writer Douglas Coupland launched a worldwide search for someone who looks like Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh to pose for a bronze sculpture he is making. Those who think they fit the description, has until August 20th to apply, Het Parool reports.
The chosen lookalike will receive 5 thousand euros and will be flown to Vancouver, where a 3D scan will be made on which the sculpture will be based.
The bronze Van Gogh bust will be the first of a series of outdoor sculptures Coupland is working on. The series is titled Redheads.
According to the newspaper, Coupland is fascinated by mutations and he calls the red hair gene the most recent and successful human mutation and "a fascinating creation of nature". Worldwide between 1 and 2 percent of people have red hair.
