Police apologize for 6 a.m. siren blast to inaugurate new Amsterdam station

The Amsterdam police apologized for the way in which they inaugurated the new station on Nieuwzijds Voorburgwal on Monday - by blasting the sirens of 10 police cars at 6:00 a.m. as they traveled from the station on Beursstraat to the new one. On Facebook the Police Amsterdam Centrum-Burgwallen write that what was intended as a "playful action" was instead a "thoughtless and clumsy" introduction to the new station. "What at the time seemed a fun action proved for many residents to be a too early alarm for the day. Sorry for the inconvenience", the police write. "The road was safe in any case."
