Rianne Letschert, 39, named youngest leader of Dutch university
The University of Maastricht appointed Rianne Letschert its new rector. The 39 year old woman is the youngest person ever to take leadership of a Dutch university.
"The arrival of a young, female rector will mean a change of dynamics in our Executive Board", the University said in its announcement on Friday, according to the Telegraaf. Letschert starts as rector on September 1st.
Letschert is currently Professor of Victimology and international law in Tilburg. She is also involved with victim support group Slachtofferhulp Nederland and the Hariri Tribunal in Leidschendam.

Maastricht is the second university to name a new rector this month. On Monday the University of Amsterdam announced that Karen Maex will be taking over as rector of the UvA and HvA from June 1st.
