Disabled gun used in “terrorist” school prank: police
A large number of police officers responded to Burgemeester Visserpark in Alphen aan den Rijn on Friday morning after reports of a boy walking around with a gun. The young man and the gun were both part of a school prank. The weapon - a real, but disabled revolver, was confiscated, according to the police.
Given the terrorist threat in the country, the police responded in full bullet-proof gear to the scene around 7:40 a.m. Once there they found a group of school students, dressed up in cowboy outfits. The officers realized immediately that this was a school prank and did not draw their guns.
The officers told the kids to keep their hands in the air and asked about the report about a gun. A 19 year old boy admitted to have a disabled revolver with him. The police confiscated the revolver because it is an illegal weapon.
"Given the circumstances, the boy was not immediately arrested, but he will soon be invited for questioning and so an official report can be filed for illegal weapon possession", the Alphen aan den Rijn police write on their Facebook page.
The police call on all school students to think before they act, "especially in these times".
