Security strike threatens at Schiphol
Union FNV is threatening with a security personnel strike at Schiphol airport if something is not done quickly to alleviate the workload on the staff. The union gave the airport until April 26th to make proper arrangements with the security firms and unions.
"Security staff stated many times that high pressure leads to fatigue and decreasing alertness", FNV director Tanja Schrijver said to the Telegraaf on Friday. "Because of that the security risks increase and that is unacceptable in the current era."
According to the union, the problem lies in the extreme competition for security companies to get or keep contracts at Schiphol. It puts the personnel's labor terms and conditions under pressure.
