Utrecht begins using LGBT-friendly crosswalk lights
Utrecht is the first city in the Netherlands to install LGBT-friendly traffic lights. From Tuesday night the traffic lights on the pedestrian crossing at the Daalsesingel and Knipstraat will show two same-sex characters, AD reports.
The traffic lights are located outside the city center. The city opted for this location because the lights could be safely installed here with limited costs, according to the newspaper. The specially made lights and their installation cost a total of 1,200 euros.
These traffic lights follow the rainbow crosswalk at Lange Viestraat. Both lights and crosswalk are symbols for equal LGBT rights.
