Shooting victim sues justice ministry for damages

The victim who was shot by the now stabbed to death 82 year old Elbert G., is suing the Ministry of Security and Justice for compensation, as he can no longer claim it from the murdered culprit, RTL Nieuws reports. G. ended up in jail after shooting the victim, a realtor by profession, while showing him a house in Reeuwijk in March of this year. According to the victim's lawyer, his client was looking at G.'s house, which may not have been put up for sale of his own free will. The realtor suffered damages from the shooting. But on September 20th, G. himself was killed in prison. He was stabbed to death. The suspect in his stabbing is 25 year old Johannes R. R. was imprisoned in a special care unit. He went into G.'s cell, locked the door behind him, gagged G. and stabbed him to death. He was initially imprisoned for stealing a scooter and stabbing someone. The realtor is now suing the Ministry of Security and Justice for the compensation he can n longer claim from G. According to his lawyer, the Ministry took irresponsible risks by placing G. in the same department as R. The lawyer interviewed R.'s parents who described their son as "psychotic" and "potentially dangerous", according to the broadcaster.
