ING Bank says support for Apple Pay in development

Dutch bank ING plans to support the Apple Pay payment system in the near future, the bank said on Twitter. Mark Kohlbrugge asked the bank on Twitter whether ING plans to support the Apple payment system. The bank replied: "There are indeed plans. Keep an eye on ing.nl in the coming period."

With this tweet ING is the first Dutch bank to announce plans to support the service. Apple Pay is a contactless payment service with which customers can make payments by holding their iPhone or Apple Watch in front of a sensor. They payment is authorized via a fingerprint scanner built into the Apple device. ABN Amro told the Telegraaf that they are also exploring the possibilities to support Apple Pay. Rabobanks does not have plans to do so in the immediate future.
