Video: Angry residents block Justice Sec’s car on refugee issue

Frustrated villagers in Oranje, Drenthe, tried to block the departing car of Justice Secretary Klaas Dijkhoff. Dijkhoff had just ended a closed door, town hall meeting with residents about the upcoming arrival of 700 asylum seekers, broadcaster NOS reported. As residents lined up to block the main access road to the building, Dijkhoff’s driver quickly turned the car around to try and exit the village by a different route. One woman stood in front of the car preventing it from leaving. Video shows a man trying to calmly usher her away, but, she tripped, flung herself into the ground and started screaming. The car was carefully guided away from the woman, and avoided running over her foot. While she was screaming, another man ran up to the car, shouting, “Asshole!” at the Justice official. He then hit the car, and tried to open the door as it pulled away. About 140 people live in Oranje, which already hosts 700 people seeking refuge at a holiday park there.
