Utrecht gives green light do new prostitution district

A majority in the municipal council of Utrecht approved the new prostitution district, also referred to as the Nieuwe Zandpad, on Thursday night. The new prostitution zone will be very close to the former sex boats on Zandpad - between the gas station and sewage treatment plant, parallel to Einsteindreeft, RTV Utrecht reports. The council majority was made up of the factions D66, VVD, PvdA and GroenLinks. The CDA voted against, calling the search for a suitable place "brief" and "flawed". The party believes that the neighborhood will experience more nuisance than with the old prostitution boats. The window brothels on the Nieuwe Zandpad will open in 2017 at the earliest. There will be space for up to 162 prostitutes.
