Long-time sports presenter Jack van Gelder out at NOS

Long time sports presenter Jack van Gelder has resigned from NOS. From mid-September the 64 year old Van Gleder will be working as weekend presenter at the commercial Sport 1 Studio. Van Gelder's resignation came as somewhat of a surprise after NOS proposed that he stay with the broadcaster until 2018. This has to feel like another blow for the broadcaster, after losing the TV rights for the Champions League and the Olympic Games. In an interview with the AD, Van Gelder said that the loss of these broadcasting rights played a small role in his decision. "No one at NOS saw that coming. It is a huge blow for everyone." Van Gelder said, adding that his resignation did not leave any hard feelings. "No, no anger. Some disappointment and surprise though. But I was soon congratulated. I myself feel no resentment." he said. "We are parting ways as good friends." Van Gelder told the newspaper that it was a very difficult choice to make. He has been working at NOS since he was 24 and was allowed to "do the most beautiful things". "But I'm stepping out of my comfort zone, work with new people and help build a station. And at my age." he said. "In my heart I will always be a NOS'er."
