Landmark Utrecht bridge fully restored

The Jéremie bridge in Utrecht was put back into use on Thursday after four years. The landmark bridge now spans the Vikingrijn in the Maxima Park in Leidsche Rijn, RTV Utrecht reports. For nearly 100 years the bridge spanned the Kruisvaart, connecting the neighborhoods Tolsteeg and Hoograven with the city center, but had to be taken down four years ago due to track doubling on station Vaartsche Rijn. Local residents and city council members thought it a good idea to move the bridge somewhere else, instead of just destroying it. After four years, residents were once again able to cross the monumental bridge.
