No funding for new Rotterdam Islamic school
State Secretary Sander Dekker of Education rightly refused to finance a new school in Rotterdam proposed by the Islamic Education Foundation Amsterdam, the Administrative Law Division of the Council of State ruled on Wednesday, AD reports.
The Foundation can't appeal against this ruling.
The Foundation requested funding to start a new school community in Rotterdam from an Islamic, Roman Catholic and Protestant Christian direction. According to Dekker, this is not evident from the Foundation's statutes, which focuses on Islamic education. There are also not enough potential pupils for an Islamic-only high school.
