Dijsselbloem re-elected as Eurogroup leader
Minister Jeroen Dijsselbloem of Finance was reelected as Eurogroup chairman on Monday afternoon, beating his only opponent Spanish Economy Minister Luis de Guindos, Reuters reports.
Dijsselbloem's reelection was widely expected. Many of the 19 member states are impressed by how Dijsselbloem is handling the Greek debt crisis and expressed support for the Dutch Finance minister.
Dijsselbloem will now serve another 2.5 year term as chairman of the powerful body consisting of 19 euro zone finance ministers. The Eurogroup sets the economic policy for the European Union.
