Video: "Llama" Frank Rijkaard spitting incident 25 years ago

Wednesday was the 25th anniversary of the day that former Dutch football player Frank Rijkaard earned the nickname "Llama" for repeatedly spitting on German football player Rudi Voller. The incident happened on June 24th, 1990 during the match between West Germany and the Netherlands in the quarter finals of the World Cup in Italy. Rijkaard received a yellow card for tackling Voller. As Rijkaard walked away, he spat in Voller's hair. Voller complained to the referee and also received a yellow card. A minute later, the two got into a fight again. After a scuffle, both of them were sent of the field with a red card. Rijkaard couldn't leave it at that. He followed Voller and spat in his hair again. The German press nickamed Rijkaard "Llama" for his spitting. He later apologized to Voller for his behavior.
