Fake doctor gets 3 years in prison

The court in Arnhem has sentenced 53 year old Fred B. from Huissen to 3 years in prison, one year suspended, for pretending to be a doctor. According to the court, the evidence presented proves that the fake doctor, without qualifications, diagnosed and treated patients, sold medicines and even had people receive operations in China. B. also received a 5 year probation period during which he is not allowed to be active in the healthcare sector. B. was arrested in May last year. He had turned his wife's massage parlor into a medical center and acted as a doctor, diagnosing and treating patients. He diagnosed one woman with breast cancer and sent her to China to have surgery. The woman did not have cancer. He also sold her a "chemotherapy drug" for 90 thousand euros. In the "medical center", the police found all kinds of drugs that B. had imported from Belgium without a permit. He prescribed and sold these medications to people who came to see him.
