No new cases of bird flu near infected farm

There will be no new measures against bird flu in Barneveld, Gelderland. No trace of avian influenza was found on any of the 17 poultry farm within a kilometer radius of the affected farm, the Ministry of Economic Affairs announced. A low pathogenic variant of bird flu was detected on a poultry farm in Barneveld last week. About 30 thousand hens were culled at the farm, in accordance with European regulations. The current measures in the area will remain in effect until April 2nd. These measures include a transport ban on poultry, eggs, poultry manure and bedding. Farmers also have to keep their poultry caged and covered.
