Three charged with attempted manslaughter in police chase
The Public Prosecutor in northern Netherlands is prosecuting three men for attempted manslaughter on police officers.
The suspects, two men from Groningen of 25 and 28 years old and a 31 year old man from Veendam, is accused of trying to injure police officers during a chase on October 17th last year. The suspects were in two different cars on the N34 and A28 and gave instructions via the telephone to ram into the police. One of the suspects tried to cut the police off, tried to ram them in to the concrete middle conductor and on the N34 turned around and tried to drive straight into the police.
The police and Pubic Prosecutor give high priority to the detection and prosecution of suspects involved in violence against people with public duties. The Public Prosecutor usually also demands a higher penalty for such suspects.
The case appeared in the court in Assen today.
