First natural ice of season brings skaters to Friesland
Thanks to the light frost of the last few nights, skaters in Rijperkerk in Friesland could skate on natural ice on Friday morning for the first time this season. The first fanatics braved the ice around 08:30 this morning.
It was a little difficult, because at only a few centimeters thick, the ice was only just strong enough to hold the skaters. But for those who didn't mind a wet foot or a fall, it was excellent.
The flooded Rypsjerksterpolder is often one of the first places where you can skate on natural ice each winter.
