Search continues for missing Norwegian man

Amsterdam police are extending the search for the missing Norwegian man Tore Grødem during the coming days. The 21-year-old went vanished on December 19th after he left the Escape nightclub in Rembrandtplein to take cash out of his account. The search will continue on Tuesday evening in Vondelpark and the Singelgracht canal will be sought again as well. Police, aided by the Ministry of Defence, are using sonar equipment for the canal sweeps. The equipment can scour the bottom of the water vertically and horizontally, so if the missing person is stuck under a bottom of a boat he can still be discovered. Police also said that 400 euros was withdrawn from the man's account at a cash machine shortly before he went missing. His phone was also believed to have been active for a short period of time during the past week.
