Street, square named for murdered politician

Former minister Els Borst will most probably be honored with a street name in The Hague. The municipality is planning to name a new square at the Haga Hospital after her. The Haga hospital is currently located on Leyweg. The area around the hospital is being refurbished, so the institution will get a new address. It is not yet known exactly what the square will be called and when the name will be revealed. Els Borst (D66) was the Minister of Public Heatlh from 1994 to 2002. Under her leadership, euthanasia was allowed under certain condition. She was also a doctor from home. In February she was found dead at the age of 81 at her home in Bilthoven. She was murdered. No one has been arrested yet. Borst was nominated by the Hague alderman Boudewijn Revis (VVD). "As a liberal minister Borst meant a lot to the medical world. She was a very good manager, it's nice if you can associate her with a beautiful square at a medical institution. There is no better place imaginable." His spokesperson said.
