Armed robbery prank lands two students in jail

A prank two students in Groningen had to carry out for their frathouse landed them in police custody for weapons possession on Saturday.

The two unnamed 19-year-old's had been spotted by passerby, masked and carrying a gun at a supermarket in Vlagtwedde Staurday afternoon. Thinking they young men were preparing to rob the business, several people called police. Several police units rushed to the scene, where they saw the car with the young men that fit the descriptions they received. They were ordered to stop and to get out. “We had received reports of a gun, so the officers took no chances with them,” a police press release said, hinting that officers had their weapons drawn and ready to use. Luckily they were not prompted to use them. The gun was found and the young men were taken to the police station, where it turned out that it concerned a prank. Police could not appreciate the humor though and the students will probably have to face a judge for their joke.
