Builder fined for letting boy, 10, pour cement
A contractor who was pouring a concrete floor in Eindhoven will have to pay a fine up to 4,500 euro for letting his 10 year old son help with the pouring of the concrete.
The fine was issued after an inspection by the SZW Inspectorate (formerly the Labour Inspectorate) last Thursday.
They boy was walking around the construction site in Eindhoven, wearing a helmet and safety boots. He was also dragging the hose used to pour the concrete.
According to a spokesperson for the SZW Inspectorate, the boy was working on the construction site during school time. The inspectors stated that he was holding a mortar hose while construction workers around him were busy pouring the floor.
"The father did not bring his son along to lead him around, which he is allowed to do." the spokesperson said. He also mentions that a construction site is a place where accidents can easily happen and not a place for kids.
