Corendon takes over Amsterdam College Hotel
Amsterdam’s famous College Hotel has been bought by air travel and tourism company Corendon Group. The four-star boutique hotel, which opened in 2005 as a training hotel, will undergo substantial renovation to its forty rooms and dining hall. Although the school will remain the property of the Amsterdam Nedstede Group, Corendon will begin to run operations from October 1, 2014, converting it to a professionally-staffed hotel. Founded in Lijnden in 2000, Corendon Group has risen to become the third largest tour operator in the Netherlands, offering flights to many eastern European and north African destinations. The firm has also become active in the hotel and luxury resort industry. "We have plans for boutique hotels in our sights," said Kees Teer, director of Corendon Hotels and Resorts. "The College Hotel fits perfectly in there, although it has come a little earlier than we thought.” The College Hotel will continue operations under its original name.
