Five kilos of heroin found in Rotterdam home

Police have uncovered 4.9 kilos of the illicit narcotic heroin during the search of a building in Rotterdam on Tuesday evening. No suspects have been arrested. Agents were on the scene responding to a report from a local resident who indicated that the front door of the building on Crooswijksestraat had been open for some time, police said. The police found no residents present at the time of the search, but seized a large quantity of heroin. An investigation into the drug's presence and the property is ongoing. Heroin is classified as a Schedule 1 drug under Netherlands law. Possession of heroin exceeding an amount for personal use can lead to a maximum sentence of six years in prison, with more time added on if the offender imports or manufactures the drug.
