Police MH17 footage website gets good response
An appeal by the Dutch police for pictures and video material of the MH17 crash site has received nearly 200 pieces of footage and photos.
The images can be uploaded to a special website that investigators have set up. “… the total number of uploaded files (is) 190,” police said in a statement yesterday. Police say the images will assist with the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash, as well as with the victim identification process and with recognizing their possessions. The investigative team is working to put together a picture of the site before, during, and after the crash, in order to reconstruct the incident. Recent footage and photographs may also be of assistance in this regard. The call for image files is specifically aimed at individuals in the area, and is therefore being made in Dutch, English, Russian, and Ukrainian. The nearly 200 image files that have already been uploaded are accompanied by Dutch, English, Russian, or Ukrainian text. A journalist working in the area has called on fellow journalists there to send in their contributions.
