Body found in home three months after dying

A 79 year old man from Hellevoetsluis lay dead in his home for three months before the body was discovered. Concerned neighbours reported the man missing to the police.

Reports indicate that the man had no family and did not socialize often. According to police, the man died of natural causes.

Instances of people passing away unnoticed in their homes has been reported widely in the Netherlands. In November last year, agents in Rotterdam found a woman who had passed away ten years prior. A month later, police in Gouda discovered the body of a man who had been dead for at least a year, while in Amsterdam, a man who passed away three years earlier was discovered in his home in late January.
