A'dam ok's "Fault in Our Stars" bench

The municipality of Amsterdam is going to place a special bench on the Leidsegracht dedicated to the film The Fault on Our Stars, which did a lot of filming in the Dutch city. The bench is the scene of a crucial talk that the two main characters have. They also make out on it. A spokesperson for the municipality confirmed this after an article in De Volkskrant. Last year, Amsterdam was the backdrop for many of the film's scenes. As filming wrapped, the bench disappeared. The spokesperson says that it may have been removed to repair damages. Or, possibly fans of The Fault in our Stars pulled the bench loose and took it. In the last few weeks, fans of the story have come to the spot to take selfies. A rise in young tourism to Amsterdam's streets was expected. The location was also taken up in a walking tour set up by 20th Century Fox which goes through all the important places from the movie. The story centers around two teenagers with cancer who fall in love and travel to Amsterdam to meet their favorite writer. The municipality of Amsterdam plans to restore a bench to the crucial spot before the 10th of July. The film will be in Dutch cinemas by then, and the map of Amsterdam related to the film will also be spread around on Facebook and Twitter.
